Meet Soheila

Soheila Azizi believes in living a life of good works. Her guiding philosophy is that in this life you get what you give, and when it comes to ethics, there is no dividing line between personal and business.

Her practice, Soheila Azizi & Associates, is an embodiment of these beliefs, and she credits much of her ability to provide her clients with outstanding legal counsel to the education she received as a student at the University of La Verne College of Law.

Originally from Iran, Soheila says La Verne Law not only provided her with a solid law school education, it also gave her the opportunity to hone her English language and writing skills. Her time spent as a staff member of the La Verne Law Review helped her to gain confidence in her writing, and she says that this, along with La Verne Law’s small class size and one-on-one contact with instructors, helped her to cultivate the kind of fearlessness that translates into a winning confidence in the courtroom.

While a student, Soheila worked as a law clerk in the public defender’s and district attorney’s offices as well as serving as an interpreter and translator in the area courts. She was dean of the Delta Theta Phi fraternity, and in recent years has returned to La Verne Law as an adjunct professor of immigration law and policy.

Soheila says she chose to practice law because, “in the law [you] can find answers to every question. Nothing is a mystery.” For Soheila, becoming a lawyer meant being in a position to provide answers to people who need help. She chose La Verne Law because of its friendly, receptive atmosphere, the student population’s diversity in age, the variety of class times, the quality of instruction and the school’s reputation.

As an immigrant coming from a country where basic civil rights are not granted to every citizen, Soheila says she feels blessed to live in a country where race, class and gender won’t prohibit individuals from becoming who and what they want to be. As a woman who uses these freedoms to give back to her community and touch people’s lives in a meaningful way, Soheila Azizi is a shining example of the caliber of students to be found at the University of La Verne College of Law.
