Delta Theta Phi

The Delta Theta Phi, Egly Senate is the largest student group at the University of La Verne College of Law and Public Service. It is also the only law fraternity on campus. Delta Theta Phi (DTP) is a professional organization that provides opportunities for our members and the University of La Verne community to participate in professional, community service, and social events. The Egly Senate has won numerous “Regional Senate of the Year” awards, with the most recent being for the 2006-2007 academic year. The Egly Senate was also named the “National Senate of the Year” for the 2005-2006 academic year.

The Egly Senate is the local Delta Theta Phi chapter chartered at the University of La Verne, College of Law and Public Service. The Egly Senate is one of over hundreds of chapters worldwide. Delta Theta Phi is an international fraternity with chapters in all 50 states and abroad.

The Egly Senate’s motto is “Brotherhood not just during law school, but for life.” It is DTP’s goal to provide opportunities to foster such relationships through social programs, community service opportunities, and professional events. In the past, DTP has sponsored such events as Fundraisers for victims of Hurricane Katrina, The Annual Toy Drive for Pomona Valley Boys and Girls Club, International Diversity Food Night, Live Scan on Campus (specifically for 3L members), Diversity on the Bench and Bar, The Elementary School Mock Trial, and many other events.

Delta Theta Phi is also known for its support opportunities of members. DTP encourages the support of its members through its Big Brother, Big Sister program where upper class law students help first year law students deal with the social and emotional strains of being a law student. DTP also helps to facilitate strong relationships between students and faculty by providing social and professional events, where students and faculty members can develop strong relationships.  Furthermore, DTP offers opportunities for student members to meet and mingle with local professionals and alumni, giving DTP members that extra “foot-in-the-door.” Thus, DTP offers excellent support and networking opportunities at the University of La Verne College of Law and Public Service.
