Most material in the law library is not for loan and may be used only within the library premises. This includes all statutes, reporters, periodicals, reference material, loose leaf material, and microforms.
Selected material in the general stacks may be checked out by La Verne faculty, staff, and students. These materials are marked with a green dot on the spine label.
Loan periods for different categories of patrons are as follows:
Patron Category | Loan Period |
---|---|
La Verne Law Students | 35 days |
La Verne Graduate Students | 35 days |
La Verne Undergraduates | 28 days |
La Verne Full-Time Faculty | 180 days |
La Verne Adjunct Faculty | 35 days |
La Verne Administrative Staff | 60 days |
La Verne Classified Staff | 28 days |
Note: Library visitors who are not current La Verne students, faculty, or staff may only use materials within the library and cannot check materials out on loan.
Renewals
Law library materials that circulate may be renewed if there are no requests or holds for them.
Reserve Materials
Materials in high demand are kept in the reserve stacks and are made available for check-out for two hours to be used within the library only.
Book Returns
All law library materials must be returned to the circulation desk for check-in. Please do not return law library materials to other La Verne campus libraries.
Lost/Overdue Materials
Borrowers are responsible for renewing or returning items on time. The law library does not send overdue notices in the mail. When a book has been overdue for 28 days, a bill for replacement will be sent out. Lost items are charged $75, plus a $25 non-refundable fee per item.
