The Realities of Mass Incarceration in America Today

The 2016 University of La Verne Law Review created an important conversation among scholars about The Realities of Mass Incarceration in America Today, with keynote speaker Bryan A. Stevenson, founder and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Incentive, and Professor at New York University School of Law. In addition to the keynote address by Mr. Stevenson, there were three panels focused on sub-issues of the symposium. Each of these panels were filled with other scholars that brought together experts from various disciplines to provide insight into how mass incarceration relates to gender, racial and ethnic minorities, and the cradle to prison pipeline.

This 2016 symposium allowed an opportunity for its guests to become current on the present and potential issues surrounding incarceration. After each panel, guests of the symposium had an opportunity to ask the panelists questions and engage in interactive dialogue regarding the presentations.
