Your resume is the key that opens the door to your next job opportunity. When employers first screen attorney candidates, they don\u2019t know your personal history, your level of motivation, or your work ethic; they only know what they see on paper. Therefore, a carefully crafted resume is an absolutely essential component to your job search.<\/p>\n

Your resume, along with your cover letter, reference sheet, and other application materials are collectively referred to as your\u00a0Personal Marketing Package<\/strong>. If done right, these documents will help land you an interview.<\/p>\n

Submit your Personal Marketing Package for Review<\/h2>\n

Students and La\u00a0Verne alumni are welcome to email their resumes, cover letters, and writing samples to the Career Development Office for review and suggestions.\u00a0 Simply email your documents to\u00a0lawcareers@laverne.edu<\/a>\u00a0(Word documents preferred) and within one week, students\u2019 resumes and cover letters will be returned with comments via email.<\/p>\n

Students and alumni may submit their materials as often as necessary for review.<\/p>\n

For those who need substantial help getting started, please schedule a one-on-one session with Jessica Estrada.<\/a><\/p>\n

Mock Interviews<\/h2>\n

Students at the College of Law and Public Service are welcome to sign up for a mock interview with the Career Development Office. Each mock interview lasts approximately a half hour to forty-five minutes with 15-20 minutes worth of questions and the remaining time for an evaluation.<\/p>\n

Offsite Mock Interview Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Students have the opportunity to practice their interviewing skills with a local attorney. Students will travel to the attorney\u2019s office and receive valuable feedback from actual practicing attorneys. Mock interviews generally last about 15 to 20 minutes, with about 10 to 15 minutes of feedback.
