In addition to its MPA program, the University of La Verne\u2019s College of Law and Public Service<\/a> has partnered with the College of Business<\/a> to offer dual law degree programs in Public Administration (JD\/MPA) and Business Administration (JD\/MBA). Dual degree programs are the ideal choice for highly motivated law students who have a clear career path in mind\u2014one enhanced by the addition of a second advanced degree. Juris Doctor\/Master of Public Administration (JD\/MPA)<\/h3>\n

Juris Doctor\/Business Administration (JD\/MBA)<\/h3>\n

Juris Doctor\/Educational Leadership (JD\/MED)<\/h3>\n

The JD\/MED dual degree program<\/a> is ideal for those interested in specializing in law surrounding education and administrative leadership. JD students may apply for admission to the Educational Leadership, MEd program to earn a second degree. Law courses are reviewed for acceptance; students may request to transfer up to 12 law semester hours toward the MEd degree.<\/p>\n

Our dual degree programs offer students the opportunity to complete two full degree programs in three to four years. The JD\/MPA program allows students to count nine (9) units of elective coursework in the master\u2019s degree towards JD elective requirements and twelve (12) units of the JD elective coursework towards the master\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n

Earning two degrees allows a graduate to interact with twice the amount of professors, classmates, and professional contacts\u2014in other words, twice the mentors and resources and <\/i>potential business partners and investors.<\/p>\n

Dual Law Degree Admissions<\/h2>\n

Applicants must meet the admission standards of each degree program and should check with each College for specific entrance requirements. Typically, students declare their intent to pursue a dual degree before or during their first year of law school. Once a student is accepted or enrolled in the JD program and chooses the dual degree track, they are automatically accepted into the master\u2019s program.<\/p>\n

In most cases, students should have a bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited college or university. JD\/MPA dual degree students may begin coursework in the summer prior to L1. All other enrolled dual degree students complete the first year of the JD before beginning the master\u2019s degree program coursework. Students then work with advisors to develop their customized course plan, selecting electives from both the College of Law and Public Service and their master\u2019s degree program.<\/p>\n
