{"id":14,"date":"2017-07-05T17:05:20","date_gmt":"2017-07-06T00:05:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/law.laverne.edu\/academics\/?page_id=14"},"modified":"2023-10-26T16:12:26","modified_gmt":"2023-10-26T23:12:26","slug":"readiness-programs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/law.laverne.edu\/academics\/readiness-programs\/","title":{"rendered":"Academic Readiness Programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Academic readiness activities begin during orientation and continue through students\u2019 entire law school experience.<\/p>\n<h2>New Student Orientation<\/h2>\n<p>The College of Law and Public Service\u2019s\u00a0<strong>mandatory<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/law.laverne.edu\/students\/orientation\/\">New Student Orientation<\/a> is held annually during the first week of the fall semester.\u00a0 All entering 1Ls and transfer students must attend New Student Orientation. During the Orientation, members of the faculty conduct several workshops targeted at introducing 1Ls to basic skills that are fundamental to academic achievement. These workshops are designed to give students an <i>overview\u00a0<\/i>of the types of skills that they need to practice and develop as they prepare for their first day of classes.<\/p>\n<h2>Individual Academic Support Counseling<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/law.laverne.edu\/readiness\/\">Student Success Center<\/a>, in collaboration with the faculty, coordinates personalized one-on-one support counseling to all La&nbsp;Verne Law students. Students may schedule through SSC, an appointment with a faculty member.
