Legal Academic Preparation (LAP I)

August 12 – 18

Law school is a marathon that requires the development of strong skills and a strong commitment to the legal education process. The Legal Academic Prep (LAP) I is a week-long program designed to introduce the fundamental skills necessary to build the groundwork for successful outcomes throughout the law school experience. LAP I is mandatory for all new students including transfer students. The program will introduce students to academic skills such as case reading, briefing, statutory interpretation, time management, and study v. class preparation.

You will be given homework assignments for LAP on August 10th during orientation. All assignments must be completed as instructed and by the due dates.

We will serve lunch on Saturday, August 12th for the Evening students, lunch on Monday, August 14th for the Day students, lunch/dinner on Thursday, August 17th for Day / Evening students, and lunch/dinner on Friday, August 18th for Day / Evening students. All other days will be lunch on your own. You are welcomed to bring a lunch or check out some of the restaurants in the local area.

Day students should arrive to LAP on the first day no later than 8:30 a.m. and should expect to stay until 5:00 p.m.
