Heshmat Mirsepassi Endowed Scholarship for Muslim Students

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be a current or incoming student at the University of La Verne
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from your Imam or local Muslim leader
  • Participate in the Muslim Student Association while at University of La Verne

NW Corporate Law Scholarship

Law school in the United States is expensive. Our firm wants to help a law student avoid some of the costs associated with law school, and we are now accepting applications for the spring 2018 NW Corporate Law scholarship, which will be awarded to one second or third year law student who is in financial need and who is actively enrolled in an ABA-approved law school. The award will be paid to the student, and the awarded funds may be used by the student for any expenses related to the student’s law school education.

Application Requirements:

  1. Most recent law school transcript.
  2. Essay: Law school is expensive, and many young lawyers are forced to take jobs they don’t want as a result of lingering law school debt. In 500-700 words explain how you would ideally use your law degree if you did not have debt following law school. Essay related to business law or entrepreneurship encouraged, but not required. Points for creativity.
  3. Resume: 1-page max, limited to your work, volunteer, and other educational experiences.

Citywide Law Scholarship 

Citywide Law Group is proud to offer a $1,500 scholarship to a current or aspiring law student. Los Angeles personal injury attorney Sherwin Arzani is a graduate of University of Michigan School of Law and has dedicated his career to helping accident victims. This award will be based on an essay ranging from 500 – 1000 words on a topic of your choice.

The deadline to apply is March 1st, and the recipient will be notified no later than April 1st.

Dickson Frohlich Scholarship

In an effort to help aspiring young students realize their dream of obtaining a college degree, the Dickson Frohlich is pleased to announce the creation of the annual Thomas L. Dickson $1,000 scholarship available to current college students or those planning on attending a college or university in the fall of 2018. The winner of the Thomas L. Dickson scholarship contest will be chosen by our attorneys based on participation in a video essay contest.

WLALA 2018 Law School Tuition Scholarship

The Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA) Foundation is pleased once again to offer tuition scholarships to law students who have demonstrated a commitment to issues affecting women and/or children.  WLALA is an active bar association that seeks to promote the interests of women, and to promote equality and equal opportunity of all people.

As it did last year, the WLALA Foundation will award tuition scholarships of up to $5,000 for the 2018-2019 academic year to law students whose prior and current activities, and future plans demonstrate a commitment to issues affecting women and/or children.  Women and men are eligible to apply.

Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Law School Diversity Scholarship

The Law School Diversity Scholarship Program was created in 2013 as part of the law firm’s commitment to helping law students who are in need of financial assistance achieve their academic and professional dreams.

In order to be considered for the scholarship, the student must be a member of an ethnic, racial, or other minority, or demonstrate commitment to issues of diversity within their community.

The scholarship will award $2,000 to one student selected by our scholarship selection committee.

In order to apply for the Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. 2018 Law School Diversity Scholarship Program an applicant must submit the following items on or before April 1, 2018:

  • A completed scholarship application form.
  • A one page typed essay describing how you have utilized your time promoting ethnic diversity within your community. Alternatively, you may write about how you will use your law degree to promote ethnic diversity in the future.
  • A certified, official copy of law school transcript.

ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund 

The American Bar Association (ABA) awards an annual Legal Opportunity Scholarship to first-year law students. The mission of the program is to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school and to provide financial assistance to attend and completing law school. The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship grants 20 incoming diverse law students with $15,000 of financial aid over the course of their three years in law school. Since its inception, 350 students from across the country have received the ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship!

The deadline for the 2018 Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund application is April 6, 2018.

Normandie Law Firm Scholarship

The scholarship is offered twice a year, each time for $1000. It is intended for students who have in some way contributed to the promotion of diversity within their community. The deadline for the first round is December 30, 2017. The deadline for the second round is June 15, 2018. Applicants will need to fill out the application and send that along with their unofficial transcripts and an essay. To access more information and the actual application, students will need to head over to our homepage at Normandie Law Firm and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There, they will see a green icon that says “click here to download our scholarship application” – they will need to click on that to access the application.

 

George Watt Essay Contest 2018

This annual essay competition was established in 1998 to honor Lincoln vet George Watt, a writer and lifelong activist central to the creation of ALBA.

Students from anywhere in the world are invited to submit an essay or thesis chapter about any aspect of the Spanish Civil War, the global political or cultural struggles against fascism in 1920s and 1930s, or the lifetime histories and contributions of the international volunteers who fought in support of the Spanish Republic from 1936 to 1938. The recipient will receive a $250 award. Work will be judged on the basis of originality, quality of research, and effectiveness of argument or presentation.

The Warren E. Burger Prize

The American Inns of Court Warren E. Burger Prize is a writing competition designed to promote scholarship in the areas of professionalism, ethics, civility, and excellence.

The American Inns of Court invites judges, lawyers, professors, students, scholars, and other authors to participate in the competition. Please submit an original, unpublished, essay of 10,000 to 20,000 words on a topic of your choice addressing issues of legal excellence, civility, ethics, and professionalism.

The author of the winning essay will receive a cash prize of $5,000.

The Ryan Law Group, Future Advocates of Justice Scholarship

2018 Nadrich & Cohen, LLP Scholarship

We are happy to invite University of La Verne College of Law students to apply for the 2018 Nadrich & Cohen, LLP Scholarship. This is the fifth year that we have offered the scholarship award. The award is open to students intending to pursue a law degree at an accredited U.S. law school.  The scholarship will be for the 2018-2019 academic year.

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants do not need to be currently enrolled in an accredited law school program. Therefore, undergraduates are eligible to apply so long as they plan to attend an accredited law degree program for the 2018-2019 academic year. Applications must be submitted by August 1, 2018.
