The University of La Verne College of Law will honor San Diego County Superior Court Judge Tamila Ipema during its reception at the California State Bar meeting in San Diego on Oct. 1.
The reception serves as an opportunity for alumni, friends and others from the legal community to connect, network and celebrate the school receiving full accreditation from the American Bar Association.
Ipema shares numerous values held by La Verne Law. She co-chairs the Access and Fairness and Membership Committees of the National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ) and serves on their board.
In 2011, she brought the first NAWJ Color of Justice and Mentor Jet programs to San Diego and she has chaired them for the past six years. The pipeline program encourages disadvantaged students to pursue careers in law. Earlier this year she received the San Diego County Bar Association’s “Outstanding Jurist Award”, as well as the Tom Homann LGBT Law Association 2016 Friend of the Community Award.
