The University of La Verne College of Law is pleased to announce the appointment of University of La Verne Executive Vice President Philip A. Hawkey as interim dean of the law school.

Hawkey has served as the University of La Verne’s chief administrative officer since 1998, overseeing what is now a $145 million budget as well as 600 employees. Along with extensive prior public sector management experience, which includes terms as city manager of Pasadena and Toledo, Ohio, he is an attorney and current member of the American Bar Association.

In the past three years, he has served on two ABA site visit teams to other law schools.

Hawkey’s appointment fills a vacancy left by former Dean Allen Easley, who resigned in January, citing personal reasons.

Hawkey holds a juris doctor from Cleveland State University, a master’s degree in public administration from Ohio State University, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Baldwin-Wallace College of Berea, Ohio.
