Stephen Charles Jones was born and raised in Pomona, California. He graduated from Loyola University in 1965 with a degree in accounting and from UCLA School of Law in 1968. He returned to the Pomona Valley in 1970 and was employed by the law firm of Moran & Nuss.

Mr. Jones became the Assistant Dean of the La Verne School of Law a few months after it was founded. His duties included assisting Judge Egly with the administration of the school. Shortly after becoming Assistant Dean, Mr. Jones left Moran & Nuss and opened his own practice; he practiced part-time while serving as the part-time Assistant Dean of the School of Law.

Mr. Jones remained the Assistant Dean until the late 1970s and he was closely involved in the process of the School of Law becoming accredited by the California State Bar. Since the late 1970s, Mr. Jones has practiced law in the Pomona Valley where he continues to practice in the firm of Varner & Brandt.

In addition to activities involving the School of Law and his legal practice, he has served as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster, as President of the Eastern Bar Association, and, currently, on the Board of Directors of House of Ruth, an organization which assists abused women and their children.

Mr. Jones is married to Sharon August Jones. They have two children, Christopher Jones and Monica Burick.
